So this is 2026.

What better way to welcome me to a new year, than the beautiful blanket of snow I awoke to this morning? I have always adored snow – its rarity, its purity, its crisp chill and atmospheric inspiration. Its promise of the new, once the snow has gone. Why is it we always crave and cherish a new start?

A snow-covered seascape

These are the thoughts with me as I return to the world online. The promise of hope, of positivity, of a happier, healthier future, and if the unblemished layer of snow is not a sign of that, then I do not know what else it promises.

What a lot has happened since I last tapped these pages! I find myself determined to focus on the positives – counting my blessings where I have them, looking to the future, not the past, and trusting that there is more good to come.

Do not forsake me, Oh my darling! A little of myself became buried under negativity, and a short break turned into a short lifetime of a break from the world online (mostly). A short lifetime of a break that I hoped served its purpose.

Time marches on, and we should not waste it. The internet has changed. The world has changed. I have changed. Hopefully all of it for the better. Like the tides, change keeps on.

As we bring in a new year, remind yourself that there is always some good beneath the overwhelm, and no matter how bleak it may seem, there is always a horizon.

Elloise.
